The Cadi Ceiling

Every ceiling, and how to get through it.

The VAT threshold. The first hire. Getting off the tools. The contract you’re told you’re too small for.

Every one of them has a way through, and most are simpler than they look from underneath.

Breaking through industry ceilings. Weekly.

Why it’s called that

Growing a cleaning business doesn’t happen gradually.

You go along fine and then you hit something.

You can’t take on more work without another pair of hands, and another pair of hands costs more than the work brings in. You’re close to the VAT threshold and can’t see how to cross it without losing domestic customers. You’re on the tools six days a week and there’s no version of the week where you’re not.

Those are ceilings. They’re not signs you’ve gone as far as you can. They’re just the point where what got you here stops working.

Most of them have been solved thousands of times by people who never wrote it down.

    Where it comes from

We’ve run a cleaning business since 2008, and before Cadi there was a course — sixty-two owners, one year, going through their numbers properly. Between them we found over £100,000 in profit that was already there.

Most of what’s written here came out of that. The rest comes from running Mackies, and from getting it wrong first.
